Psalm 56:8–13 8Thou tellest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle: Are they not in thy book? 9When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: This I know; for God is for me. 10In God will I praise his word: In the Lordwill I praise his word. 11In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid What man can do unto me. 12Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee. 13For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, That I may walk before God in the light of the living?
I read the Scripture this morning and my mind began to create a scenario; I wonder how close my imagination comes to the reality? Here is what I imagined…
An angel is about to receive his orders from Archangel Michael for a very important mission. This mission seems significant to the Most High who sits upon the throne. What a great opportunity must lay before this servant to serve his Lord. Excitement and anticipation are great within him as he awaits instructions.
Where will he be sent?
What will this mission involve?
Will he do battle with demons today?
Will he be entertained by some man or woman unaware of his identity?
Will he secretly intervene in the activities of man to protect another one of those heirs of salvation?
He thinks to himself, “Those folks sure do seem to get themselves in trouble a lot, they are a mischievous bunch, I wonder why they are so loved?”
Whatever it is, this mission seems especially critical.
Here comes the command, he quiets himself so that he can hear clearly.
The Archangel speaks, “See that suffering saint with the tears streaming down her cheek? Go to her, take this bottle and capture and save every last drop of moisture that comes from her eyes.”
Really, go get tears? That is the important mission? Save some small drops of salty water?
The angel can’t hold back his words and blurts out, “WHY?”
Great question. Why would the Lord save tears?
The answer, “those tears are precious treasures to the Master!”
The Word tells us that God saves our tears and records every reason for their falling.
Psalm 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle: Are they not in thy book?
I don’t know that my imagination is close to reality, but I do know what the Word tells me is true.
The Lord saves your tears.
Perhaps I got the method wrong. Maybe he doesn’t send an angel. Maybe he invented evaporation especially for this purpose, so those tears could rise toward the throne.
I don’t know how he saves our tears, but I think I understand a little of why.
Why would the Lord treasure tears?
Could it be that they are a representation of your heart that he so dearly loves?
Maybe he recycles tears and uses them to water seeds of promise to grow a coming crop of blessings.
I confess I don’t entirely know.
The one thing for which I am certain is that Jesus cares for you, so he cares about your cares.
Your heartache may go unnoticed by your friends. Your supposed loving family may not think of you or want to get involved.
Those tears may not matter to most, but they matter to the Master.
Oh yes amen a thousand times over ...
