Psalm 97
1The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; Let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. 2Clouds and darkness are round about him: Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. 3A fire goeth before him, And burneth up his enemies round about. 4His lightnings enlightened the world: The earth saw, and trembled. 5The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6The heavens declare his righteousness, And all the people see his glory. 7Confounded be all they that serve graven images, That boast themselves of idols: Worship him, all ye gods. 8Zion heard, and was glad; And the daughters of Judah rejoiced Because of thy judgments, O Lord. 9For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: Thou art exalted far above all gods. 10Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of his saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. 11Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart. 12Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; And give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
“What are you doing?”, the little boy asked the man pulling small objects from his bag and placing them underneath the roadside soil.
“I am sowing” came the reply.
“What does that mean mister” the inquisitive little fella asked.
“I am trying to grow something big and beautiful that will bring joy to all that pass”, the old man said as he bent down to plant another seed.
“I don’t see anything big or pretty in your bag mister”, said the lad.
A smile cracked in the wrinkled face as he said, “Ah boy, but what you see ain’t what it will be!”
That is what I pictured as I read one verse in today’s Psalm.
Psalm 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.
Today, I am in a very dark place and I am down. At present my path has no light and my heart feels no gladness. I have experienced sadness like I never knew I could, and it seems that darkness is layered upon darkness around me. The precious Word of God however tells me that because I am saved, because I have received the imputed righteousness of God’s son, my Heavenly Father has planted a big and beautiful hope that will manifest somewhere along my path. He planted light that will pop out and shine along my path and gladness that will grow in my heart!
What I see, ain’t what it will be!
By the way, if you are a child of God, what you see ain’t what it will be!
